Big changes are comng… are you ready for it? I, for one, am not.

As an athlete playing a sport that doesnʻt make millions of dollars, it can feel hard to call yourself a “professional”. Something happened recently that made me stop in my tracks and I knew instantly I needed to share this.

On social media, you see a lot of success. The best of your life, but there is so much more that comes with that. AVP Hermosa might’ve looked one way on Instagram, but for me, I overcame a lot of personal obstacles that had been in my way for quite a while. I’m just a girl, trying my best and I have many downfalls. Here’s what happened this weekend.

Growing up, I realized I had a bad way of dealing with conflict. If I could, I would avoid it at all costs. There came a point when I had to face it head on and this idea of respectful honesty came into view. As I’ve gotten older, it’s only become more and more important in my life. It’s a skill I think we could all put into practice. So here it is.

Social media isn’t necessarily bad, but the way that we use and react to it may be. It’s so easy for the numbers/comparisons to get into our head and diminish our self-esteem. I found a way to bring the joy back and here it is.

Sometimes, I surprise myself with how willing I am to just go and do something new. In this case, it led to something I never saw coming.

The answer is so simple.
